Project 43
Project 43 is a profession development workshop aimed at raising awaress about Chicago's high school drop-out rate. Project 43 is held in Chicago at UNITE headquarters. This past February, our chapter attended. During the trip, we visited local neighborhoods, visited schools, and creating a school turn around plan. The theme for Project 43 2012 was closing the gap between drop-out rate and school closure. Pictures from this trip can be seen here.
Spring Break 2012
As an alternative Spring Break 2012, UNITE-IUB decided to take our members to Cleveland, Ohio for the week. We joined both chapters from Illinois on this trip. During this trip, we visited numerous local schools and neighborhoods in the Cleveland area. We attended a professional development workshop led by Akil Marshall. We visited a Polish neighborhood to get an idea of the kinds of diversity surrounding the Cleveland area. While in Cleveland, we saw many kinds of schools as well as various attractions Cleveland is known for, such as the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
